Bonham Ludwig wood kit from 1971...which ply thickness? Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Hey guys, regarding Bonham's green kit from 71'...would these have been 3 ply shells? Forgive me if this has been covered already...I'm looking into a late 70s kit possibly, and the guy is saying that his kit for sale is the "thicker" shells with blue/olive badges....they aren't Bonham sizes, but it's okay because I want at 24" kick instead of the 26.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, Bonham's kit was 3 ply. He actually had more than one Green Sparkle kit...one had granitone interiors, another one had clear maple interiors.

A late '70s kit would most likely have 6 ply shells, and yes, they would thicker, with no reinforcement rings. Great drums, but very different sound than the 3 plies.

Thanks for that feedback! I think I'm going to just hold out for the 3 plys with a 24" kick. I would like to find a green sparkle though.
