If you know what a dry/tight supraphonic sounds like, imagine one that is kinda raw sounding, more 'open-throated' than a supa. But which has all the strength and character of a supraphonic. That is what they sound like. It is the go-to snare drum for many drummers that own one. Just a really great all-around drum with a wide tuning range and serious versatility. Can be tuned to fit into any music situation.

Grab one when you can...

MickM picked up the drum today! Had a blast playing drums and I enjoyed Mick's company. We're complete personality opposites, I'm a Type A personality New Yorker, Mick is very laid-back, mellow Pennsylvanian. Somehow we manage to connect and I always enjoy my time with him.

Thanks from me and Bev. You're welcome in my home any time. Going to turn you into a drummer!

Nice drum! I cruised over to the Shuffle's abode earlier today and hit him up for a couple hours of instruction and left with the drum to boot. It really is in excellent shape needing only a cleaning which I'll do when I replace the heads. (looks like the originals but I can't tell for sure) Nice case and stand too! Also have a question for you guys. The snare wires have molded transparent plastic ends where the wires attach. Was this original in '66?

So, another good visit with a forum member and another sweet snare. Just gotta' remember to leave my wallet at home next time. ;>)

Hi John. Does this snare have COB hoops? I have a 66 and it is a real nice sounding snare. Nice drum! Good luck with your sale.

No COBs. Magnet bites hard!

Believe it or else!

Mick - everything on that drum, down to the washers on the tension rods is original and as you see, in pristine condition. A 'closeted drum' if there ever was one. Here's a couple of shots of the heads and wires to help the guys answer your questions.

Enjoy the drum and practice the stuff I showed you, see you again...

i wouldnt change those heads unles you are just trying to preserve them. lots of us actually try to find those heads for our period drums. certainly no need to change the snare side head as it wont get hit on anyway.

like john mentioned, the resin tip 2517124 snare wires would be original and are great wires.

I plan on playing this drum daily and thought I'd save the original heads. Might just leave the snare side alone now that you mentioned it.

Mick, just play it. That batter head is perfectly broken in and has tons of life left in it. That drum was 'lightly' used - at best. Enjoy it. I tuned it perfectly for you, don't mess with a thing. That drum is going to make your practice sessions feel more like fun than work.

Bang on dee drum all day Mon! It was meant to be played...
