Boosey & Hawkes Ajax Last viewed: 8 minutes ago

Hi. I'm new here and am hoping someone can help me.

I found a tom and floor tom Boosey and Hawkes Ajax. They were put in the bin and thought it'd be a shame to throw such things away. They're black marble in colour.

Or perhaps I'm wrong in salvaging them?

They're in fairly good condition but would need some work.

I've read that these drums stopped being manufactured in 1967.

Any advice?

No drum deserves to be salvaged like that...Even the humblest little drum will provide joy and education to any kid on your neighborhood or family. The Ayaxs are GREAT drums. I used to have a 8x14 snare drum and I still regret selling it. Please post some pixs for us to enjoy...

OK I'll try to get some pics up soon. I don't want to keep them. I'd rather someone else have them to restore and use.

Is there anyone in New South Wales who'd want them and use them? They're pretty nice really. They've got the original badges on them and all.

Hey well I take that as a vote of confidence in Bossey & Hawkes Ajax drums !

I don't want to sell them and would be happy to pass them onto someone who'd appreciate them, fix them up and use them.

I'm still hoping others around here offer their opinions on these drums.

Hey Gope, I replied to your PM - would love it if you could post or email a couple of pics of these drums so I can see if they match the bass drum and snare I have.

Ajax were B&H's top line brand and as good as anything else made in the UK at the time. Be interesting to see them.
