they do not make this drum in a 6.5 depth. thats one thing that i wish ludwig had done differently. with their metal drums, when they went to 6.5 depth, they went to 10 lugs. i would dig a 6.5 ludwig metal in 8 lugs for certain.

My first drum was a late 60's early 70's Ludwig standard aluminum in a school band kit. The stand, wooden case and keystone practice pad are long since gone, but the snare is still with me. It is a great sounding drum.

I picked up my 1968 Standard two years ago. Check it out....it was only played about twice. Not a mark on it! All original P 83 strainer, muffler, snares, an awesome badge and decent shell!

Its one of my best sounding drums. Its photogenic too :)

Mine has few cosmetic dookies and it was missing the P-83 when I got it. The one that's on there is one I got from Vinny recently in a swap. Blows my mind how I never knew about what a great sound these drums have. Even the badge design is growing on me. Something I never liked.

Mine is NOT in nice condition - but it sounds every bit as good as everybody here states, not least the OP. "Dry" and "Crack!" are the words that springs to my mind.

Great drum, if I were to keep only one of my snares, this one should be it.

They did come with classic lugs if you're lucky.

very nice looking snares!

the wooden snares did come with classics sometimes but it appears that the metal drums always had the standard lugs.

Thanks..

I would think the metal shells would be easier to convert to classics and hiding the footprints of the standard lugs...
