Hi folks. I'm currently watching a set of premier disco drums on ebay. It's just a shell pack of kick drum 12&13" rack toms and 16" floor. They're a bit tatty, but would be a fun restoration project. If anyone has any info on there drums, i'd be greatly appreciated. I've never heard of this range before. Cheers people.

I think our friend here is talking about "disco time period" drums. Drums, like everything else in this period was built by left over wanna-be hippies...remember the Matador? or Gremlin? or Pinto?...etc. I played so much crap from this time period that I wouldn't pull a pair of dirty underwear out of the laundry room to clean up a set of them. No offense, but even the so-called good drum makers were turning out crap at this time. Like any drums, if you know what your doing you can make them sound good, but if this is a kit that Premier sent to overseas manufacturers to build...walk away! It's a buyers market...wait & find an American/British/German 1970's (or earlier) or a MIT 2000's (and later) kit...for a couple hundred you can pick up some nice stuff.

I had Ludy's, Pearl, Rogers, Yammies and all kinds of assorted crap form this time period and all were less than memorable. Anyone remember the old Gibraltar hardware from this time? Remember the "composite" (ie-garbage board) shells these MF's tried to pass off on us?...Pi$$es me off to think about it. Find a nice vintage kit or a reasonably priced new kit. Best deal going right now on a new kit is the Gretsch Catalina's or Sonor's entry level kits...nice shells, nice heads & great hardware!...all for about a half a grand!

I pretty much stay away from anything made in the 80's. Ludwig was using metal rivets to hold their shells together, Premier came out with their cardboard XPK drums, Rogers went down the tubes, it was a horrible time for drums. Go back, 50's through 70's when you shop for a vintage kit.

I would say that is not the name of a range, just merely someone speaking to the era those drums came from. You may even be able to get rid of that blue paint and have a nice white pearlish colour be revealed.

There is actually a tag on the drums that says, 'Disco.' Although I seriously doubt it was a tag that Premier added. Curious.
