You are most likely correct. This could just be due to a much different batch.

Nope, just badly faded! Still cool though! The second version is actually very dark and was an early 70's color. As far as I know there were only two versions of psych red.

1957 George Way BDP 26" concert bass drum
1959 George Way BDP 22/12/16 w/ 5.5x14
1959 George Way Green Sparkle 22/12/16 w/5.5x14
1961 George Way Blue Sparkle 20/12/15
1961 George Way Jelly Bean 20/12/14 w/4.5x14
1960’s Camco Oaklawn Champagne 20/12/14/16w/5x14

+1 very badly faded. I've seen faded psych red before, but I've never seen a case where the greens went to a creamy, whitish/yellow.

In that condition, those keystones would fairly bring $950 - $1100. I think $2000 is way to high considering the condition of that wrap.

Still, a very cool kit though.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

i agree with John its all about condition, condition, the fact of the matter as ludwig keeps making retro kits as good as they did in the 60's our kits mite slowly start to die off as did the junk muscle cars have done, if the kit is extremely fine then it will hold its own good luck nice drums

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I got this on Craigslist a year and a half ago. It's definitely a players kit. Matching numbers. I've never seen a psych red downbeat. I'm curious to know what some of you think these could be worth. I know they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay, but has anyone seen a kit in this wrap and configuration sell? What did it go for?

The once green has faded to white,...that`s the way these would fade. People tend to put a value on how much green and purple have survived !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

the white was never a part of the wrap, it would have been green, thats where the color gets its " frog in the blender " nickname
