I would like to introduce you to me.... Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Sorry about the title.

I once heard El Vez say it and it cracked me up...

Anyhow, hello!

I'm new to the forum but not to old drums.

I live just south of Boston, MA and have been playing for 33 of my 39 years. (Jeez, THAT hurts to say!) The last 20 of which have been behind old Slingerlands or a neat little Rogers kit....

People are always happy to tell you they've been doing things since "Before it was cool" (blah, blah, blah)

Since that's not my style I like to joke that I bought my first old kit back when they were affordable.

Thanks for having me & I'm looking forward to learning while I'm here.

Something tells me you guys have probably forgotten more than I'll ever know!

Oh! Also, if this is in the wrong forum I apologize, this one seemed to be the most active.

those sound like nice kits pics will be well received welcome to the group it's a fun place to hang out and talk vintage drums....

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Welcome Richie! You've definitely come to the right place. There's a fantastic group of fun, knowledgeable and helpful people here ready, willing and able to share their expertise, recommendations and opinions on just about anything drum-related. BTW, you should be "proud" of playing for 33 of your 39 years. I'm sure we'd all love to see some of your kits.

ENJOY the VDF!

Hey Bass-ton, I'm a native New Yawker and as long as Yankees or Red Sox never comes up in conversation, we're going to get along just fine. lol Walking

Hey!

Thanks for the warm welcome folks!

Vintage Drum Bug, if you had ever happened in to the old E. U. Wurlitzer store on Comm. ave we may have crossed paths...and Purdie Shuffle (Great name BTW) we're bound to get along...I know nothing about baseball!

:D

With a little bit of luck I've attached photos of the old kits (What I refer to actually as "My children"...but that just makes me sound kind of nuts)

There's a bunch of other cool (to me) stuff around here that I'm sure will show in time....

Anyhow, the Black Diamond Pearl Radio Kings are 22, 13, 16...the toms & snare are late 40's & the bass drum is early 50's.

The White Satin Flame Slingerland kit is 20,12,14 & the Rogers kit is a 20" bass, snare and not much else.

None of them are, you know, "Collector" quality or anything but more what I like to call "Working drums"

I love the old school console in the pictures. My addiction besides old drums is records. Welcome aboard!
