You lucky dog! Three for the price of one!!! Doesn't get much better than that. The Trixie is sweet, but I'm a huge Camco/Geo. Way fan. Was the Geo. Way a stripped drum? Or is that the factory finish?

My favorite is the Trixon ,but thats just me...

I dont know why but I have soft spot for old German drums such as Trowa, Tromsa, Trixon, Dixie, RKB, Sonor, Lefima...etc

As for the Geo Way. This one is confusing me a bit! Based on catalogs, it looks like a 61 Studio model. Its a 6 lug. It has the correct strainer on it, but is also has two extra holes, one above and one below the strainer. That is mystery #1. The second thing is the finish. The finish on this drum is flawless and beautiful. The Studio was offered in a mahogany finish in 61, but I would expect something like the wood finish on a Ludwig Pioneer, this is much much nicer. So I dont know if it was refinished. It looks like the badge was removed at some point. All the hardware looks original. The interior is white....is this factory? I have a 58 Studio model, duco with turret lugs and the interior is not painted...... This drum also has a really nice duel pad muffler on it. Not something I would expect on a student level drum.

Wow, Some nice snare's you have..On the Geo. Way drum if i recall right the snare is a "Student Model" drum because of the 6 lugs as you know the "Studio model" had 8 lugs..The strainer maybe the right one but i seem to recall the strainer on the student model being like a T-rod that were into two little round lugs things..So iam thinking someone put the much better strainer on the drum thats why it has the two holes that i see.Or someone at one time could have put like a Ludwig p-83 on it then someone replaced it with the Geo.Way one? iam not sure..Also to me the drum has been refinish at one time.I don't recall ever seeing a Geo.Way with a white painted interior Camco drums did this in 1964-5.Your drum could be a Camco shell that someone put a Geo.Way badge on?..On the muffler is Not a Geo. Way or even Camco one its a 40's-50's Slingerland Radio king muffler....Mikey

Welcome of course!.. and .. glad to be of service getting you up and running on the VDF! Regarding the Trixon snare drum:

In studying the pics, I believe that this drum is a 1965 1/440, not a 1967. I researched Trixon heavily as Buddy was with them in 1967 .. albeit very briefly!.. and in the course of that research learned a lot about Trixon drums from this era. That said:

You have the 1965 hoops as they curve inward, kind of like the Slingerland StickSavers, plus... the parallel throw is ALL metal, and the last year for that was 65/66. In 1967, when Buddy hopped aboard, the hoops were now STANDARD triple flanged, and the parallel throw utilized plastic "tips" on the handle. I can't see the wires, but I suspect that they are also different than the 1967 variety. Of interest too is the "reinforcement joint" at the seam on the shell. That was gone in '67 as well. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same drum with regard to lugs/tone control/etc. What does this all mean? Nothing really. But I thought you might like to know that the drum is a little older than 1967... and looks to be in GREAT condition!

In the picture of the inside of the Trixon, there seems to be a wooden "patch" of some kind in back of the muffler...what is that? Was the shell damaged?

Tommy P. Thanks for the additional info! You are right I do have the curved hoops and the throw off is metal. The snare wires have black plastic ends. If I recall yours have gray ends. The only issues with this drum are one slightly bent t-rod (still fully functional), incorrect mounting screws on one of the lugs and one of the plastic snare wire ends broke so it is tied on with wire through the two small holes in the plastic which seems pretty secure and works well. Otherwise it appears fully original, it even had the Remo / Trixon batter head on it (had a hole in it so I swapped out).

The 6 lug drums were the Studio Model drums, the 8 lugs were the Aristocrat, Rialto (as well as a couple other names). My drum has the pictured throw-off. I agree that this drum must have been refinished (very well) at some point. I also agree that prior to the rehab it must have had a non-stock strainer. After looking around I have seen some Geo Way drums with white interiors. My interior is not perfect and looks to have age so I'm guessing it is factory. The badge has definately been removed, but all the hardware (except the muffler) looks original including the rims and rods. I haven't taken this one apart yet, when I do maybe I'll uncover more.....

That is the shell seem.....it is factory. As Tommy said they made them that way until 67.

Ah!... is it a "patch" ? That would explain why I have never seen one on any other Trixon shell... although for my interest, it's always been the 1967 model. I still suspect that it's on the seam. Perhaps drumbum675 will give us the skinny! Here's an interior shot of my 1967.. ( BR model ) .. the shell is flawless, no patch.
