Yamaha sparkle finish...take your picks!

Hey guys,

I'm planning on ordering a Yamaha Absolute Maple kit soon. I love my vintage Black Oyster Ludwigs, and of course, those are staying! And I still have one of the old Yamaha Maple Custom sets (not Absolute) in black maple finish...also staying!

So...for the new one (22, 12, 13, 16 sizes), I'm deciding on one of the sparkle finishes. I'm thinking black sparkle or silver sparkle. What do you guys think? They also have a caramel sparkle that is pretty neat. They all look good. Also, I tend to use a variety of snare drums both new and vintage ...I'm not into having a matching color snare drum, but that's a side point.

Yeah, but having that snare, down the road if you decide to turn them, could make the deal for someone else. I love a matching wood snare, whether or not it gets played, it just makes a kit look "complete" somehow, you know? You could always use the "throw in a matching wood snare and I'll do the deal right now" buying approach.

As a good salesman, if it meant getting the deal today, my manager would rather restructure the deal than let it walk and think for a few days...or weeks. Time kills deals and if you want a "best deal", most sales organizations would much prefer today over any other to sell something.

That's a good point...thinking about resale value later on. The Yamaha Maple snares do sound good too. I'd just need to figure out the size I want...thinking like 5.5x14 or maybe 6x14, depending on what is offered for a matching snare.

I'm leaning towards black sparkle at this point. It may be a few months before I'm ready to order...
