I've read on one post somewhere that Slingerland and Ludwig both used wood filler in their shells and re-inforcement rings.... Can anyone confirm this? I have an early 70's Hollywood Ace snare, maple interior with maple rings, and there is wood filler only where the rings taper off. The filler actually does match the maple wood exactly and it appears to have been there for quite some time.. I would guess that this probably is true but it would be nice if someone knew this to confirm as well. Thanks

Slingerland did this in the 60's on alot of their drums to the edge of the rings at the edge of the drum sometimes..If i recall right Ludwig did not do this in the 70's or at all..Mikey
