Who uses two rides?

Yet another poll...

Yes, I am kinda revamping my kit and set up once again. I picked up a Paiste Signature Bright Ride and am considering using it as a crash/ride. It is very shimmery with quite a bit of wash. I didn't quite know what to expect. Interesting cymbal, it is...

Honestly all of my crashes are vintage As 18 inches or larger. I think they are all technically speaking rides... So that means I have 4 rides in my current set up. 3 as crashes and 1 functioning as a ride

1973 Slingerland Phantom 13,16,22
Late 30s Slingerland Radio King- 7x14
SJC Custom Snare Pink Sparkle- 8x14

I had fully intended to use this Sig Bright Ride as a ride, but it's too washy for my ride preferences. But I do like it as a crash ride. I was rocking a 17, and an 18 in the set up. I guess I could say I use three rides if I keep this set up.

Thanks for the input.

I'm a lefty playing a righty set open handed. I trade off riding with either hand--sometimes in mid tune if the right hand starts to fade. I actually have a 22" and two 20" with a couple of rivets in one of them. I sometimes use a 17" and/or 18" in addition to various splash cymbals. All of my cymbals are Avedis Zildjians from the 40's through the early 70's. I have owned most of them since I bought them when they were new.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I should have learnt open. I feel now like I had missed so much.

I also wish I would have kept the following:

1) old 602's

2) old Rogers kit

3) old K Zildjians

Old age makes for 20/20 hindsight.

not sure which option to click here.

i play two cymbals other than my hats. both are cymbals that are the right weight and design to both ride and crash. so, i guess i play two rides.

1-ride, 2-crashes, one bright, one dark. I play in a blues band, don't need but one ride. It helps if it's the 'right' ride, which I have. The only practical reason I can think of to lug an extra cymbal and stand to a gig is the one leedy gave, it's just a part of his normal set-up/how he plays. Otherwise, I can get it done with one good ride.

Very individual kind of thing. Like everything else, there's no right or wrong about it, just personal preference I guess.

Too many great drums to list here!

I use two in my drum room on my practice kit. This is what I wish I could play all the time.

Zagly, Mr. Shuffle.

The weirdest kit configuration I EVER saw was a kick drum, a snare, a hi hat, five crashes, four splashes and three rides.

No wrong answers...
