**Slingerland clip style Stand Wanted** Last viewed: 20 hours ago

Loading...

I need a stand for 6 & 8 inch Toms with clip mounts.

All I could come up with in my searches was the

#310 Set-O-Matic stand. Please let me know if it

is what I need. Thanks, as aways, for all your

help.

I have a question on the clip mounts.

I have an 8X10 and 10X10 tom toms with straight clip mounts instead of the Slingerland angled clip mounts used on the set-o-matic ball. The rest of my set (12X8, 13X9, !4X10, !5X10, 16X16) all use the super Standard Set-o-Matic mounts with a hole in the center of the mount for the arm.

I don't want to drill any holes in the 8" and 10" drums, so I am trying to figure out if there are straight clips that can be used instead of the angled clips on the holder. The straight mounts on the drum has holes that are wider than the angled mounts I bought.

Does anyone know if there is a straight clip that can be used on the stand so that I don't have to change the mount on the drum?

Thanks for your help.

Yep, it's a model 171 Telescopic Tilting Double Tom Holder from the sixties and tough to find.

There's also the model 73 Double Floor Stand for Toms from the seventies, also hard to find and requires the set-o-matic tom mounts.

Good news is the diamond clip tom mounts use the same mounting pattern as the set-o-matic tom mounts and would require no drilling.

Bad news is that the regular set-o-matic down tubes are D-shaped and won't fit on a cymbal stand, or the fix would be quite easy. Both the 171 and 73 down tubes are round, and fit a cymbal stand nicely.

Diameter for the model 73 post is 3/4 inches and the model 171 is 5/8 inches.

Here's some pics using modern Pearl, Ludwig and older Slingerland stands... as long as you know the section diameters for the stands, you're in business after finding the mounts.

The last pic shows the top side of the bass mount for the 171 so you can recognize it when you see a complete system. There is a "mirror" bottom plate for the interior of the bass shell, not pictured, cause Inogotta one, dang ! DOH
