looks like a re-wrap to me. if so, and with that modification, i think $1,000 is ballpark.

+1 On whats been said.Sad really..because they are great sounding drums, but not 3800 in that condition. On radio king drums with those lugs, the toms didn't have badges,in fact not even vent holes for a while.Keep looking and good luck

Not planning on buying it, the guy who sells it is a friend of mine!!

He probably doesn't even know he's overpricing it :p

Don't want people to think he's trying to rip them off!!

Thanks for the expert input!!

You guys are great!!

what would be a right price?

and is it possible to get it back in original condition?? (except for the wrap :()

Remember guys, besides those of us "spoiled brat Americans", that some of these people live in countries in which "vintage drums" don't hold the same reverence we give them, and they are looking at 5 kits as compared to 5,000. I do not agree with the types of mods being made, but we see literally 1,000 times as many vintage kits as some of these guys, and we pay far less than they do because we are....spoiled Americans...but we also made more drums than they did!

I'm living in Belgium Europe, just like Supraphonic D.

Vintage kits are indeed much rarer over here compared to the US.

Ludwig's pop up more often. (must be Ringo's contribution). Slingerland, Rogers and certainly Gretsh are rare finds. I would say that 90 to 95% of the vintage American drums are offered by collectors/dealers and very often are fresh imports from US, hence the high prices. To find them from first users is like winning the lottery and most of the time those people google the brand name and become convinced that they struck gold.

Price wise I would say that a good condition vintage American matching 3-piece drum-kit sells between 1250 and 1750 Euro. That's about 2000usd.

Personally, I keep my eyes open for nice deals from respected sellers and have my drums shipped from US,... cut the middlemen out sort of speak. Including shipping and import duties, you'd pay around 900 to 1200 Euro's, depending on year, model and finish of course.( The Euro/dollar conversion is still sweet)

Nonetheless, the Radio King posted above is way over the top, especially taken into consideration it's a re-wrap and has several kilo's of non original metal attached to it.

PS: some of the vintage drum dealers do offer quality stuff !

Indeed, the guy is well respected and considered to be the main guy in his field.

He offers maximum 2 to 3 kits a month, always selling fast !

I guess there is a business in vintage drums over here ! Walking

Way over priced. One thing i will say when you re=wrap a set of vintage drums you have to cut the edges of the drums this does change the sound of the drum..Most collecters will not buy a re-wrap set because of this..I would say also a 3 piece Radio kings re=wraped would sell from 700.00-900.00 US..By the way whats the name on the Blue set in the back of the photo it looks like a HAYMAN set to me by the badges and lugs or could be a D.W. set??Mikey
