OOPS I bought a Atlas snare stand

Loading...

Well I have a 1969 Ludwig Rock duo set that I bought in 71 used.

It came with two Atlas cymbal stands but the snare stand is a Rogers.

Now don't get me wrong it is a great stand but to complete my set I wanted an Atlas.

Sooo I have been watching e-bay and Craigslist to find a deal.

I was going to bid on this (See attached pics) and the bid was $11.00 so I thought I would try $12.00 (Shipping was $12.00) but I typed it as 1200 not 12.00 so my max bid went to $1200.00. Guess what, I won that auction.

It went up to $72.99 so OOPS I bought it at $84.99 total.

More than I would have liked but I think it was still an OK deal.

Now my set will be all Ludwig with Zildjian.

What do you think good deal or not?

thank goodness no one bid it real crazy wih your high bid. that could have gotten crazy!

those are great stands and you'll probably never need another. you could always sell the rogers stand to offset your costs if needed. it always feels good to get that one piece to complete things. congrats...

Yes at first I freaked out about the bid. I tried to remove it through e-bay but only managed to report it. I had to go to practice so I just settled down and went resolving to aurgue it later if it did get out of hand. That might have gotten messy. As it turns out I probably paid about what it is worth looking at the condition it is in. That poor guy tring to out bid me was probably swearing.

Oh that Zildjian looks good I have to have it how about starting at $1500.00

I bought an Atlas snare stand about 5 years ago and paid around $75 for it...so don't feel Too badly about what you paid for yours. I would have liked to see the snare arm tips be in perfect shape for that price, but your stand, in general, looks really clean. Also, I find it interesting to note the style of t-screw used -the same style that Slingerland used back in the day. They weren't the traditional 'mouse ear' screws that Ludwig had normally used. I have a full set of Ludwig Atlas stands that came with these t-screws. There must have been a small period of time when both Ludwig and Slingerland were getting 'screwed' by the same supplier. :p

Does that make this stand a bit more rare?

It really did look clean and was advertized as olive/blue badge (Which I didn't see in the pics) so thats what drew me to it along with the rubber feet it has. It will hold my 69 Super sensitive snare (pictured with my Rogers stand) which diserves to finally have this Ludwig stand.

I love the early Atlas line a lot. I think its great hardware. "More rare"? Well...yes...I suppose it could be....but not enough to make the value of it any different. People will claim that the t-screws were replacements, but, like I say, I have an entire set of Atlas stands and all of them have these t-screws...and I have seen other examples of this on really clean, nice stands, too....so it's probably not the case that all these examples have been replaced with Slingerland t-screws. I really do think there was a run of Ludwig Atlas stands that incorporated the same t-screws as Slingerland. But Ludwig (and probably Slingerland, too) were quirky in these little details back in the day. Things happened!

That was my $71.99 bid that you beat with your typo.

If you want to sell it to me send me a PM.
