Drum appraiser needed for rare Rogers set Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Ebay sales are what really sets the current sale prices. Expert opinions are like Blue Book prices in that they don't really reflect what people are willing to pay for, or sell something. In this economic climate sellers are much more motivated to see some cash rather then wait for months for a buyer. A great time to buy and not the best to sell.

another factor is matching tags and Cleveland Drums for the best prices... sets made up of orphans IMO will never bring what a factory matched set will....

Someone told me this, and it seems to be true.........

If all drums have same tags (all Cleve etc),then, they WERE pieced together!

I know almost every Ohio R kit I hear of,at least one drum is Dayton, rest Cleve.

Hi Blair. If you are seeing kits that have one Dayton and the rest Cleveland, could be a Clev/Day transition kit. So many drums were picked from the shelves to put a kit together (at factory and at dealers) that it is very unusual to see consecutive numbers on tags. If the numbers are relatively close and all drums are a match, then it probably is a born together kit.

I would love to find out exactly how many matching dyna sets were manufactured as I keep hearing different numbers. It's too bad that Rogers Drums closed it's doors as they made some of the best drums ever.

There are no numbers.

They made drums.

They made Dynasonics in various finishes, a few one off customs, some were just the finish of the day, some were ordered to be with a kit. They also made Powertones, Towers, and Luxors the same way. And they made plenty of COB drums as Powertones and Dynasonics.

You ordered a drumset. It came with a choice of pearl finish, and that also applied to the snare drum, unless you paid the couple dollars less and got a COB.

However, as far as there being anything special about a Dynasonic in matching pearl with a set... that wasnt anything special then, and it is not now. Really.

The matching Dynasonic with your set doesnt make it more valuable as a set by itself. The added value is in having the Dynasonic in the matching pearl. The blessed thing is that you have a set that was born as a set, and the drums and snare never got seperated. Any given set, with a matching Dynasonic, or Powertone, will be more valuable on the basis of the snare drum alone. And that applies no matter if they were shipped together, or six months apart, or were married last week because some guy like me put them together. Now for the real kicker...... The Dynasonic or the Powertone, will sell for more money seperated from the set, and the set will sell for more money seperated from the snare drum, than they will together, most times.
