What do you refer to when you say ...stars/spokes...??

I will always have a 6-10 rack,...I love the option to change sound, not to mention my kit fit in with them !! (or vise-versa)

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I feel the same as fishwaltz.

I really hate when some joker sets them up as if they're 6", 8", and 10" regular toms and then tries to play 'Tom Sawyer' with them. Makes me wince.

It's gotten to the point that I won't even let drummers into my studio that have them.

Okay- who can play 'Tom Sawyer' except for Neil? REALLY!?!?!?

Yeah- there's a cheeze factor that is just ten times of cheeziness of normal cheeze factor when someone other than Neil plays 'Tom Sawyer'. I may have stepped on toes, but I think more than a couple of people share my opinion.

One roto tom= one pair of killer bells!!!

I agree. That is his signature song IMO. Smoke On The Water riffs on the axe rate right up there with the cheeziness!

I won't lie though, I give Tom Sawyer hell until I start to miss kick beats then the first tom fill, I think it is like a 40 stroke run in about 3 seconds, does me in for good. All told, I probably play about 7 correct seconds of the song! Practice makes perfect so in about 19 years I should pretty well have it licked!

If you're playing it at home- GREAT!!! After all, I try and perfect Phil Collins' signature drum fill ("I Missed Again" is where I first heard it), yet I have never used it in public. That's my reverence for the greats!!!!

I was at Piano's N' Stuff yesterday and that Rush Anniversary show is on the TV, the one live from Germany a few years ago. When Neal does his solo, everyone in the place that can see the TV is watching it, guitarists, keyboarders, all of them. It was really cool.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, what a joke......... The court of public opinion has those three where they belong!

As far as roto toms go, Pink Floyd's music comes to mind as tasteful roto tom work. I think they are cool but I too have had some reservations because of the stand. I don't want it to fall and damage my dad's drums. I have replaced all but one of the flatbottomed cymbal stands because of this too, and the one I am using is the ride which I keep real low and tight to the 13" tom. It is stable in that position.

have a wonderful evening
