HELP! Nobody Makes Snare Wires for Super SK??? :( Last viewed: 17 minutes ago

Loading...

I figured this question needed its own thread!

After lots of internet searching, found a thread on Puresound's blog where someone said nobody makes wires for the Super SK anymore. So if that is true, what do you do with a snare that has no wires???? By the looks of it, possibly the Luddy Super Sensitive wires might fit, but don't want to waste money on experimenting.

Someone else said the clamshell wires work.

Any suggestions??

I use clamshell wires, they work perfectly

Okay, cool, I'll try them.

So, I'm assuming that there isn't anyone that actually makes one for the Super SK, that true?

Thanks very much.

As far as I know not specifically. Yet to my knowledge they were the same exact wires back in the day. Extended wire that screw into an anchor point on both drums makes sense

This is true, but then wouldn't you expect there would be something that says can be usedfor clamshell and Super SK applications?

It is too muchto exlect finding a used one considering how few of ghese.drjms exist!

Thanks.

I think thats exactly what the problem is.These drums are too few in number, and interest in them is nearly nonexistant.Too bad, because if they sound as good as they look, its a real shame more of them weren't made.

They are awesome drums, one of my all time favorite snares for sure.

Vipuronr this may ease your nerves on this a little-

I bought a clamshell Radio King a little over a year ago, the snares wires on it were trashed. I bought new clamshell wires. Put those new wires on my Super Sound King fits perfectly. Put the wires that were previously on the Super SK (which were the originals) on the clamshell, perfect fit.

Wow MD, that does help. Not that I am questioning anyone's wisdom, just trying to explore every avenue.

Thanks very much.

Thanks very much for the photo! I see how it fits nicely in the strainer...question, did the strainer originally come with a piece that allows you to screw in the wires to it. I dont see it, so is that a piece that may be missing on mine (pic). I assume that the hole in the strainer has a rod of some kind that goes through it and an adjustment knob. That rod maybe the thing that the wire end screws into...is that correct? If that is the case, where can I find that piece (Mikey???).

So, searching all over the internet, is Puresound the only manufacturer that makes wires for the clamshell strainer?

Beautiful snare by the way!
