Do you mean only the badges or drums with the badges? Hope the badges don't get removed! For the drums, he will easily get $100.00 a piece. More like $300 a piece. The snare, probably more. :2Cents:

You can buy a new kit for five or six hundred but you're killing the people that would jump on that vintage RK partial (3pcs) kit. (don't see pic of a rack tom)....I don't think anyone can help you decide what you're looking for except you.

I would venture to say that the snare has a solid steam-bent maple shell, what you're probably seeing is a little separation at the inner scarf joint. I saw a RK snare in BDP go for $1,100+ by itself on fleaBay a few months ago & it didn't look much better than that one. The old saying goes "an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay"...I'd pay $600 for them, but I'm a mentally disturbed Slingy addict!...I'd pay $10 just to sniff 'em!

Since you're wanting a player, I'd go with after market replacement lugs, the last thing you want on a gig is to blow out a lug, & as said before, they are much more reliable. Personally speaking, I would keep the old lugs, but you could help finance your fix-up by replacing all the lugs & selling off the good ones. Beavertails go for premium $'s on the "Flea"...and if that "Shop Owner" know where he can get $100 bucks for a cloud badge, I'd like the address of that sucker...ugh, er, buyer! Yes Sir

I think I was tired when I wrote that, I imagine going by ebay prices every shell is worth 100 bucks at the minimum, I'm going to get it tomorrow I don't play in a band so I probably won't gig it. I'd be afraid to haul it around anyway. I'm excited and apprehensive about starting a project. more than likely I'll clean em, and add replace drums in my current kit while I do one drum at a time. I'm really hoping the snare turns out to be a good playing snare it is the drum I need the most in my kit.

Wheres the best place to get repro lugs? I've done a couple searches and came up with a couple.

I think DFactoryD because they're currently only 3.13 a piece vs 4.50, which DFoundry is out of stock now. Good luck

From SuperChief

Didn't have the scratch to buy them today but made the trip and inspected them again a put a deposit down.Does the solid snare have an inner laminate of some wood? There is some peeling/delaminating inside? but the covering is intact and looks good minus a small burn hole. The bass drum looks intact, minus a broken lug, maybe a cracked one or two, the floor tom is in bad shape, the cover is starting to lift, all the bottom lugs are trashed and the drum or hoop is a tad out of round, I may have to rework a bearing edge too. I think it will survive though. I figure if I pay too much I'll at least have something to clean up try and tune up and play, and see if I can get it to sound at least as good as the PDP Kit I'm playing.

Stage Band2

Wow! That snare is exactly like the second snare I ever owned!

Bought it along with a BDP RK 24 and 16" for $80 in around 1969-1970....don't recall if it came with a 13".......I wanna say it didn't!

I was around 13-14 when I got it,and remember thinking...why would you want a snare drum so big?

Picked em up today. Also got a bunch of extra pieces from it, including some Krut and zenjian cymbals a bonus set of Zildgian 13" Hihats with some flea bites that don't sound too bad. Some old heavy cymbals with rivets that sound like crap. I think there were about8 or 9 cymbals, I'll probably only consider using a two or three of them. Also some stands woodblock cowbells, brushes a tambourine and other odds and ends. like a couple buckets configured for drum throne trap cases. Here are some pics of what I've got. Wondering if this is the head that came from the factory on the rack tom The floor tom has a calfskin head on the bottom but it's thrashed.

Inside the floor tom, small crack delam of the innermost ply... I hope

I played the snare some tonight and didn't touch it with a tuning key until I played it a bit and it actually does sound pretty good. I'm gonna pull the top head off tomorrow to look inside and take a pic of the delimitation and see what it's all about, but it does look like a laminated shell instead of an awesome steam bent maple one.

I want to continue posting updates and ask questions regarding returning them to playable condition, should I start a new thread or get the mods to move this one?

The floor tom is beat, all the bottom lugs are busted, a couple of the top ones are cracked and there is some delam happening on the covering and a bit ton the inside. the bearing edge on the bottom looks like it is opening up or separating. Overall I think it can be saved without a re-wrap, it seems a bit out of round but not much and it could be the hoop and not the shell.

The bass drum has a cracked hoop that may be repairable, a couple bent T-handles, broken claw and a couple broken and cracked lugs. The bass spurs look to be added on, there is a sticker on one that says made in Japan. There was also a pair of clamp on bass drum spurs in the hardware I got with it.
