I think it's great! Look what was accomplished with the kid and his yard sale find in another thread recently.

It's why I prefer this forum. It's got great information available, and seemingly accurate. When things are not, the subject gets kicked around until it is.

I like this forum 'cos I like to know how much I am going to lose if I hotrod a vintage kit!!!. No, seriously- I also like it 'cos I am learning a lot of things and get to see really nifty pics of stuff. I still have trouble uploading pics, myself; but I just shrinkpictures.com shortcut and maybe it will help me.

As far as drive-bys go, there are a few reasons why they happen: the poster gets the info they need, or they just don't like the feel of the forum for whatever reason, or both. But this forum is here as a knowledge base, so it's bound to get a few drive-bys.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

I have felt like I have started too many threads. Its so easy to get on the computer and ask questions but I dont want to wear out my welcome either. I am trying my best to help out with other guys problems but I am very much a newbie here. This is a good place to be if you are restoring drums. I cant wait to post pics of my current project, its fun to hear the reactions. I have also been very pleased with the way people will help me make a decision on wheather or not to buy a kit. You dont have to worry about me as a drive by but on the other hand I want to know if I am over-doing it.

Thank you,

Jeff

alright,

i'm getting my act together and posting some pics. leedybdp, there's most of my wares in the gallery now. let me know what you think. the pic i have of my wmp radio kings (need a floor tom) is too big. i'll try to get one that fits.

sounds like there's lots of reasons why some of us don't post so much. but yeah, this is the best resource i've come across. thanks to all that are picking up our slack!

I lurk here more than I contribute.

I am into vintage drums for reasons some of you may not agree with. Such as, I don't buy a vintage snare or any other drum for investment reasons. So I'm not concerned if that tension rod is the very exact one that came on the drum originally......or maybe that internal muffler knob is just not quite right.

I have several vintage snares that I bought mainly to play and the guys in the band could care less that the Rogers Dynasonic COB drum is all original and made in 1975. Nor could they care that I am playing on a 1960 Ludwig Pioneer transition drum with NOB hoops and nickle hardware.

I own drums that I wanted as a teen and never was able to purchase them back then.

But anyway, this site is a wealth of information on vintage drums and some on here really know their stuff and I thank all of you for that!

There are good points and bad points. It is great to help out. An excellent example is the support recently for the old Ludwigs. Others are painfully obvious sales attempts. One guitar and amp site the requires 100 posts prior to listing an item for sale or the mods will boot them.

I guess that it is a sign of the times that we are seeing a steady stream of people popping in with very similar first posts that may be the only post each one ever makes here. Don't get the idea that I'm complaining about this because I have a bottom feeder collector's mind set. This sometimes results in making a good score from someone who just wants to sell something that the seller knows nothng about, and cares about even less. I don't think a day has gone by in the past few weeks without seeing someone pop in, ask what something is worth, and then disappear. I know that other drum forums frown on such posts. I hope that this forum allows them to continue because selfish old me just might make a nice score.

Lol i love your honesty , very cool and funny .

The more the merrier.

There will always be a few scam artists, tire kickers, and other less than squeaky clean types.

They are in all markets and they are sure are welcome to browse here until they cross certain lines of course.Welcome

Some of the best entertainment I've had has been on this forum!

Way to come out of the closet and post a-dub! Gorgeous kit!!
