Slingerland tom mount question Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Loading...

I'm on the lookout for a 12X8 tom and have seen a couple with the clip style mount that I would have purchased, but will need to re-fit for a Set-0-Matic mount.

Does anyone know if the hole pattern on older the clip-style tom mounts (pre-Set-o-Matic) will match up with a Set-o-Matic tom mount? I don't want to drill new holes.

If my query is unclear, I'll try to attach pics of what I'm talking about.

Thanks.

If you are refering to the diamond shaped plate on the tom that has a little bracket on the outside to receive a spade or spoon from a rail consolette tom mount, the hole pattern is identical to the Setomatic diamond shaped plate. A single tom Setomatic mount has a long rod that goes through a fifth hole in the center of the plate. A double Setomatic tom holder does not require center holes because the rods to mount the toms are little stubby things that do not go inside the tom shells. here is a picture of the plate for a rail consolette. The hole pattern is identical to a Setomatic plate.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thanks, this is exactly what I was wondering...they are both diamond plates, but wasn't sure if the hole pattern was the same. I have a double setomatic tom holder, but my kit came with only the 13 tom. I want to add a 12 and have seen more with the mount plate you show in your image than the setomatic type. The setomatic diamond plates are easily found, so it's nice to know I can just swap it out if I buy a tom with the older type mount.

Thanks again.

I can second that.
