I could never really appreciate the feel of the Ghost pedal- it always felt mushy and slow to me, All these vintage HH and bass pedals-you won't catch me playing them in any kind of live situation without modern springs and other moving parts- it's trouble waiting to happen no matter how cool they look and feel.Sailing2

Yeah- I have a Ghost pedal that is about to be jettisoned. I hate that pedal...
Dead dogs like rusty fire hydrants!!!
Gat a hold of the drummer of The Romantics......Jimmy Marinos.
Ghost's are the only pedal he has ever used (at least up to 10 years ago)
I have two Tempo Kings that I really like but on gigs I use the compression spring Ludwig Speed Kings as the springs and spring bolts on the Tempo Kings do wear out.
The Tempo Kings are a little more responsive though.
Attached are pictures of the pedals that I recently restored (Actually just cleaned up, relubed the bearings, replaced some bolts and put new leather on).
I take your point- but playing a 50+ year old pedal live is seriously risking it breaking during a performance- I just couldn't take that risk.
Have you seen Jojo Mayer's foot techniques? They remind me very much of Buddy Rich's- with technique like that you could play with anythingYes Sir

I have an old wore out Tempo King. Anybody know where I can get a new bearing for it (the left one -- from the players side -- is a bit sloppy)
Also, Can someone post a pic of one showing the front tongue - missing that too.
Just don't have the heart to off it. I have read on here that some people like these better than the Speed Kings.

Been over a year - and NOBODY can help me out with this? Has nobody else had any issues with a sloppy left side? (I ever tried swapping bearings around with the other side and indeed from another Tempo King.
Guess I will just get my drill out and drill a hole in the casing and install a set screw to match the other side..........

Here's my "over-the-top" Tempo King pedal I use with my 1971 Modern Solo 2R kit, in Sparkling Purple Pearl! My TK is incredibly smooth and fast, thanks to the addition of a cam bearing and "S" hook from a Yellow Jacket pedal.

Hey Mark - you build this or buy it? I have seen these pics before - beautiful! Also, shall I continue with the plan to install a set screw or do you know where to get bearings? One problem is that I do not know what has worn - the outside of the bearing or the inside of the casing.
I see you have the original beater there. One more thing - does you beater meet square with your head or does the top edge of the beater land on the head? This could involve the depth of the hoop, yes, but I would think there are standards for hoop depth, no? Swapping beaters might be a good idea, and perhaps a pad on the head.
