HELP! Lost my Vintage Rogers in flood! Last viewed: 26 seconds ago

Loading...

Appreciate all of the responses. This was not just an average flood, but rather, a sewer and drain backup. The entire downstairs was a loss. Demolition begins today on the walls, and floors.

My insurance policy states "replacement costs" for lost non-salvageable items.

Any ideas on a "modern day" comparable drum set, including hardware?

Modern Day Comparable Drumset and Hardware.

Rogers was top of the line then.

DW is top of the line NOW.

Dude, every post youve made on this thread has rude, offensive, and condescending. Get over yourself.

You have absolutely read my words incorrectly. It happens. I hold no malice towards you.

I Don't wish to pee further or have to explain my jokes. Just nod off knowing that I've not said a disparaging word against anyone on this thread ... unless your real name is Pierce Brosnon. If you don't understand the humor, so be it. But, humor it most certainly be. I mentioned it two or three times in these posts. I'll do it again here, as it appears it wasn't enough.

If I've offended you, I sincerely apologize. I honestly don't see it, but there ya go.

Words and jokes can be taken in or taken offense. It all comes down to the individual.

Laughter is not a bad thing.

Mid-season recap ...

This first post was straightforward with my tongue removed from my cheek. No offenses to be found.

From RogerSling

They don't go for much (comparatively speaking), so you might want to check eBay completed auctions and get an idea of the current going rate. Sorry to hear of your loss. Replacement rates will most assuredly depress you.

This second post has one serious sentence in it. I've bolded it.

The rest is a stream of conscious diatribe ala Firesign Theater. i.e. Humor

From RogerSling

Unless the flood waters washed the hardware away, I figured this was just a shell pack inquiry. However, if the flood waters had a high salinity, then I could see replacement. Also, if the flood waters contained any sort of chemical waste runoff, that would require replacent. Oh, and what if there were large squid that latched onto the stands and bent them beyond recognition! That would be wicked! Hey, what about those huge ship props. Those can do serious damage if they run over a stand. There was a large fish that swallowed Jonah when he refused to go to Ninevah. That was wild. You don't live near Palistine, do you? CRABS!!! Dude, some of those can snap your finger clean off! I saw these Metal Munching Moon Men on Rocky and Bullwinkle. Those guys had it bad for steel. Whatever happened to that Pierce Brosnan guy anyway? So, that should get your VCR up and running. If you have any more difficulty, just ask. That's what we're here for.

The third post was correcting Leedybdp. He had stated that I was doubtful of the OPs sincerity. Not true at all.

... note the first confirmation that there be humor in these waters ... arrrrr

From RogerSling

I honestly wasn't intimating anything. I was just being goofy and unpredictable. It's a stream of consciousness comedic pause for the cause. Nothing more.

The fourth post was responding to Leedybdp ... and reminding the readers that we do joke around here.

From RogerSling

Ain't nothing but a thang. It's what we do. We laugh. We learn. We educate. We laugh. ... and sometimes, we laugh.

At this point, I'm still not seeing any offensive posts. If you can identify them, I'd certainly be interested in it.

Now, my fifth post was in response to the suggestion of a full out DW kit.

Here's the original OPs statement:

My insurance policy states "replacement costs" for lost non-salvageable items.Any ideas on a "modern day" comparable drum set, including hardware?

REPLACEMENT COSTS was the operative statement.

A Big R Rogers runs about 500 on average. You put in a suggested replacement kit of about four to five grand.

Sorry, but that was just flat out funny to me.

I know what you meant. I understand you were suggesting that Rogers were great and DW is great ... but Seriously ... Think about it. How freekin funny is it?

Insurance Company doesn't know jack about drums. The damaged kit can be replaced for under a grand any day of the week. But, LOOPHOLE allows a ridiculously expensive drum kit to be built as a replacement. Net gain = 3500 or so.

If you don't see the humor there, check your pulse. That's outstanding.

So, you feel there was all sorts of ...

Dude, every post youve made on this thread has rude, offensive, and condescending. Get over yourself.

Every post? Really? Rude? Offensive?

Sorry ... I don't see it.

I think if you give these posts an honest look, you'll see the heart behind the words.

I have come to accept as FACT that attempts at humor in forums such as this--even when they are good attempts at humor--do not work too well. There are some folks who will never suss to the humor. And, the written word is much more difficult than the spoken word to express inflections. Emoticons and overused shorthand terms like the dreaded "LOL" are as odious to me as having to explain to dim bulb cousin Buford why everyone at the Thanksgiving feast table laughed at the great joke I just told. I am an incurable smart a$$ who seizes almost any opportunity to joke about things. Hopefully, I am sensitive enough to not joke about subjects that should not be targets of humor. I am no longer part of another drum enthusiast forum because the owner does not appreciate my sense of humor and my contrarian nature about his favorite brand of drums and his politics. I try to be neutral on topics here unless my opinion is requested. If my opinion is contrary to the opinions of others, I will try to honor the opinions of others even if I think they are wrong. If I ever post something offensive to anyone, please let me know so that I can make certain I don't repeat such things.

That was a top of the line kit in its day. Why not go for the DW?

Not sure if this has been discussed on VDF but this reminds me of me something.

I recently called my insurance to check about what kind of stuff is covered

in a renters policy since I have 3 complete kits and most of a 4th.

They said if I was really worried about a particular kit, ie: my vintage

WFL, I could have a rep. come out and schedule them, just adds

a bit to the monthly premium for that. Otherwise it's just a deductible

limit kind of thing if everything is stolen/destroyed etc.

Found it!!

A big YEP to the above statement. Without the "schedule" a pre-WWII Martin guitar or 1949 Radio King set with Turkish made Zilgians are lumped together in the deductable limit with your kitchen spatulas and toilet plunger that were lost in a flood or fire or theft.
