Agreed! The repros just look off, and I will go out on a limb and say that the cob hoops add to the Slingerland sound!
Just a quick note for what it's worth... I purchased some of the 2.3 sticksavers from Drumfactory, and within six months they had begun to rust. They had a label on them... made in Taiwan.
Have you called Matt and informed him of the problem you are having with these hoops? If there is anything he can do I am sure he will. He is top-notch where customer service is concerned. Many of the hoops out there today, the economy types anyway, all seem to be about the same quality, likely all made in the same plant.

Matt is a cool cat, always very helpful as you say.... just a real nice guy to work with. I had only bought one set of 16s and 13s for a project, and it went out the door before i could avail myself of Matt's good service. I'm sure he would have replaced them if I had asked.
To underline VTM's comment... the authentic Slingerland COS rims are most often available on eBay at about the same price or a bit more than the repros. I hit the BIN last week on a pair for $40.00 while he and I were discussing this very topic.
You can get the COB versions for $10 to $20 more each if you are patient and avoid some of the more ambitious sellers on eBay. I think they sound much better, and, of course, will not rust or pit.
Thanks for the input everyone! This is why I like the form so much!
So are the StickSavers on the 1st link to drumfactorydirect.com COB? OR COS?
I see the DrumMaker.com StickSaver hoops are 2.3mm chrome.
I guess I am confused at to where everyone is telling me to get them, haha!
Oh, and the original stickchopper hoops on the 13" tom I have are nickel. I think I will eventually buy 16" hoops to match (via Ebay or someone on here). But to get it up and running I think I want to get rims people on here are suggesting...if only I can figure it out! I guess I started reading it all being more tired than I thought.
Thanks for the continued help!
Kevin
I am pretty sure they are cos. I think C.W. has cob but I am not sure they are sticksaver style.
*Bump* Anyone know about the rims in question?
Thanks!
They are COS, and within 6 to 8 dollars of real Slingerland COS sticksavers available almost all the time on eBay.
