Hey this was my great grandads drum kit, my family are currently selling it which sucks, but before it goes i'd like to know more about it, does anyone have any information regarding these? kits. It looks to be part Maxin part RoseMorris, and what about the cymbals? i actually got given the paiste stambul and hi-hats, both are really nice!

I have googled them and iirc they are from 1971-1975 thats when rose morris used that particular oval badge. I'm not sure on the quality or anything of the drums or cymbals though how they stack up against other drums of the time etc.

If you have any interest in playing drums, you should grab the Rose set and the other Zildjian and Paiste cymbals (they are good too) and stands you need. Those are all just as good as the best you can buy today. Pics are from far away, but it is certainly worth much more than they are asking. Once it is sold it will be too late. Let them sell the Maxwins - no need to rescue those. They are selling the Rose set (a nice vintage double headed set in WMP) for so little - you couldn't get a kid's chinese made junk set for that. Plus they were your great grand-dad's set? I can't see that being sold unless you are sure you will never play drums.

Shaftesbury kit, hands down. So make that your quest - there is no rush - if you keep looking, someday you'll find the BD to complete the kit. In the meantime use the maxwin - or why not your Mapex BD?

Thanks david! Is there anything else on out of all of that i should get?

I hate to see my family history being sold, so i will buy it off the family if its of quality and not low quality stuff like the maxwin, i think the cases are a good deal! what about the stands and stuff, im not too keen on vintage hardware unless its cool and not too flimsy.

So the shaftesbury drums are worth picking up, what else?

i have the paiste 2002 hi-hats and the paiste stambul crash and i have the zyn rivet cymbal, i also have some sabian b20 cymbals so unless that is a nice zildjian ride, ill give it a miss.
