Funny! Chet, I just finished your book and loved the pic of your BG kit. Now one of the other two in existence is for sale. Is this kiz mit? Now all I need is some extra money! Yes - the Lottery! I'm hoping haha. I would definately be searching out any Gretsch/Gladstone drum if I hit the jackpot in the lottery. I've good a nice, but very simple, collection of Gretsch drums started already.

I'm looking at your book right now Chet. I keep it handy and it is one of my very favorite drum information books. The photos in there are pure class and the endorser's interviews are a very nice touch = good stuff!

I remember when Palmer had the set listed in NSMD years ago for "BO over $30,000." I've always said drums are WAY behind the market. Consider that a FACTORY Fender strat from the 50's will go for upwards to $100K. http://www.swingmusic.net/1956_Fender_Stratocaster.html

I repeat FACTORY! These drums were custom made in the 50's when "custom" didn't exist. Add to that, built by the "best" snare drummer or our time (according to Buddy Rich) and $165,000 doesn't seem that much. (You reading this Maxwell? I expect some kick-back!)

I totally agree Chet. I've thought that for years......the price of Vintage drums are just starting to catch up with other instrument.

Yes - I'd like to be able to afford the ones in question here - in reality I may never be able to....But, the truth is...these beautiful drums are worth every penny. I for one am very happy to see them priced as they are here.

I just had someone post "I can think of better ways to spend $165,00" on the Gladstone Facebook site. I responded, "We all have our priorities." Personally, I'd rather play a Stradivarius than a fiddle (if I was a fiddle player).
