Value of Rogers snare Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi All,

Interested in making an offer to someone for this awesome sounding, beautiful condition Rogers marching snare.

I'd like to pay fair price, but I'd assume marching snares would be a tad cheaper than kit snares due to lower demand.

PICS now posted here...

Thanks,

Loop

Some interior shots. Funny business or just shoddy factory work?

Interior continued...

Are these common imperfections, or has that grommet been tampered with?

The wrap looks awesome, but the interior is cracked in many places. It looks like a void has been filled next to the grommet.

Hmm...I dunno Mikey.....marching drums aren't worth a whole lot, unfortunately. That one is one of the lower line drums of its time, still excellent build quality, just not as high end, as say, a seperate tension Dynasonic marching snare (yes they did make them). Having bought and sold a couple of vintage marching snares in the past, I'd estimate around $80, even with it's (probably now) one of a kind school colors on it. I had a Leedy & Ludwig marching snare that I sold last year and it went for $125, and those are pretty rare. Also, the 1920's Ludwig & Ludwig single tension snare I restored last year, went for $100 recently. Both were nicely restored rare examples, but again, being marching snares, the value is trumped by standard kit snare drums.

Good luck on your sale. flower

Thanks, LD. The Rogers snare is a donation to the school at which I teach from a deceased member of an Australian military battalion. I was thinking of making an offer to save it from the brutality of my students! It would make a great super fat rock drum.

By the way, I was just looking for some info on late 80s BBs and your responses were the most thorough and edifying! You're a great resource here. Thanks for sharing with such clarity.
