What Would You Choose? Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

So you check your post-holiday drum funds and discover that you've got enough "pennies" left to purhase one of the following snares to add to your collection if you choose. Would either one of the following peak your interest or would you pass on both?

#1 -- 1965 Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl Jazz Festival. Extremely sound condition, both functionally and cosmetically. Missing its baseball bat muffler.

Price: $300 + shipping

#2 -- 1965 Slingerland Red Sparkle Hollywood Ace. Also extremely sound condition. Ludwig strainer (using original holes in shell).

Price: $150 including shipping

Both great deals, but if you decide on the Luddy, could you pass on the contact info for the Slingy? I've got a '65 Slingy kit in red sparkle, and the addition of a matching SD would be awesome!

I agree with most... get both. Then for ease of mind, you should send them both to me for... evaluation. Yep, good old fashioned evaluation. I'll let you know if their worth keeping. Eye Ball

I'm gonna be that nagging voice that grates on the nerve.

If you don't need one to complete a kit, pass on both. Neither of these are what I would consider "collectable" and rare. They are as common as Oster blenders. Great product, but no sense in hoarding 'em.

I vote ... Save the pennies and let them grow for that day when a true collectable snare flies within your sights. You will be more apt to have the do-ray-me at that precious moment in time.

I agree, but if I had to buy one it'd be the Slingerland.

THANKS to everyone for your input.

I appreciate all the opinions that came in, regardless whether they were similar in nature or on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Rocketman: Drop me a PM if you get a minute. Thanks!

RogerSling: I can assure you that I don't consider you a "nagging voice" by any stretch of the imagination. Thanks for your honest opinion! That's exactly what I was looking for and all of you who took the time to respond were very helpful.
