i am looking to find out what a 1976 rogers drum set is worth. black in color. this set also has zildjian cymbals from around the same time (1976-79). hi-hats, crash, ride. with all hardware. (Pedals, stands, throne, etc.) also there is a snare drum from the same time (1976). the bass drum has some dings and rust on the edge of the ring. otherwise it is in good condition. it has no bottom heads. any ideas. rough estimates. i'm looking to purchase and the guy who's selling them doesn't know what they're worth and he doesn't want to get ripped off. the picture attached is one i found on the net. it is the same drum set only a different color. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
1976 rogers drum set Last viewed: 5 hours ago
I'm gonna say $1,000 .Big R's don't go for what scripts go for.Also-is the snare also Rogers? Are the rims missing or is it a concert tom set?Are they all Memri-loc stands? The cymbals are 1/3 the total of this estimate. Please post afew pictures, because if these are Island music drums, all bets are off.....
I agree....snare = $200, cymbals = $250, hardware = $100, and the remaining 5 pcs = $400-500 because the toms need bottom heads and hoops...so, yup, about $1000 is right.
On a good day on eBay it might fetch $1150, but on a bad week on Craigslist it'd only get about $900, too....
Are the shell interiors wood or painted ???
I'd have to even call $1000 on the high side.Stuff is either not selling, or going cheap these days. I was putting my Gretsch New Classics on the market, but gonna wait a while, after seeing what things are selling for. Alot will depend on the cymbals. Big R sets don't pull alot of money, the concert toms are *really* not worth much. I'd offer up $750, might go to $900, if the cymbals are decent choices. Most of us are probably pretty well set for cymbals, if you've been playing a while, so they're almost a liability, unless they're resellable. Here's a shot of a project set I just picked up. Probably will re-wrap it, plug the holes from the Pearl mount. But, it was cheap enough to justify the work.
Aloha, Bill D.
thanks for the info. im trying to get pics. when i do i'll post. thanks again

Hi. I own a kit of this era. I know what it would take to buy them from me. They are mint and I am first and only owner. BUT.....
I saw a kit on Ebay, Rogers 1976 Butcher Block finish, but drums only, no hardware, not even a high-hat stand, only drums, go for finally $550 US. I really wanted them as they were same finish as mine. So there you go. I would think if these are only the drums as well, that should be close, only about 500 dollars. Which I know is a great deal because if you drop some cash on new heads, they can sound as good as any kit out there. I just did that last Christmas and they sound the best ever of all a sudden.
Hope this helps
Jim

So,Rogers DID have a butcher block finish.I seen one of these kit's in church years ago.I thought only Ludwig had the BB finish
Welcome the the forum by the way,Yes Rogers did indeed make the butcher block and other faux wood finishes,And I think they sold a good amount of them at least in the Atlanta and surrounding area, back in the day tons of country drummers used butcher block and lighter feaux wood finishes, rock guys would use the Koa and dark walnut finishes, alond with solid black and new England white. On the price on the kit you are looking at,in the U.S.the 500.00 neighborhood sounds about right for the drums and mounting hardware,4 and 5 piece memriloc kits in traditional /desirable depths are bringing that,if you are buying the stands included ,add 100.00 to 150.00, if, for instance the kit has A zils, say a ride hats and a couple of crashes, those would go for 300.00 400.00 if sold seperately,I would add 200.00 max but as the other guys here said most buyers interested in that era/brand kit would not want/need the hardware and cymbals,so the seller should get less. But if you need every thing 800.00 for a kit with pro cymbals drums and hardware that would be ready to play/gig would be a fair price for buyer and seller IMHO.
Perhaps I need to find me a BB Rogers kit for the kind of gig's I play(hence my user name)
