Don't tell my wife!
I've often wondered why they changed the finishing process. The 60s versions look much better than anything they've done since.

Looks great, Poppy! Nice job!
I like ALL vintage Acrolites. I have one from 1984 given to me by Andy Knifel. It's got the gray paint and the rounded B/O badge. The Acrolite is just one of those drums that can do no wrong. The shell is seamless. *Ask any custom drum builder to make you a seamless aluminum shell snare drum with original throwoff, snare wires, rims, wrap, badge AND HEADS for, oh, say about $100.00 and see what kind of reaction you get! LOL!* But the Acrolite delivers just that....PLUS, ALL the components are original and made from American steel in an American factory for an American company. It's also the most "neutral" looking snare drum on Earth! It's GRAY! Do I come across as an Acrolite advocate? I am! Storm Trooper

You've got THAT right! +100
I wonder how long the will remain so cheap. I also wish we had a plating shop here in my city. I'd like to get one chromed just for the hell of it.

I suppose Ludwig is a victim of its own success. They've sold so many great snare drums over the years that it is now easy to find a good used one for much cheaper than they can produce the new ones. A used Acrolite has got to be THE best deal on a world-class snare drum.

At least ludwig has enough sense to keep producing the supra and acro........

Agreed. I'm not complaining. Fill the world with high-quality snare drums! Clapping Happy2

Pop, glad to see you put it all back together. FYI, those acros have a clear finish on the shell; pretty tough. if you try & buff out any scratches, you'll be opening a can of worms. not much you can do to them except clean 'em & play 'em.........marko
Nice job getting her back in shape. In your opinion, how does it sound compared to a Supra?
