George's Drum Shop closing Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hi Guys,

I'm closing my drum shop at the end of January. Not enough business because of the recession, unemployment, etc. so I'm getting out before it gets worse. The going out of business sale started today. We are putting everything on Ebay at low prices too. Go to my website Georgesdrumshop.com and click on the Ebay link. The website will stay in place for a long time as we sell off whatever inventory remains and I will still sell some specialized stuff there too.

On the other hand Not So Modern Drummer magazine is doing very well and growing. Circulation has increased to 20,000. So I will be devoting all my time to that and to my performing career with Poco and my recording session career in Nashville. The NSMD office will probably be relocating to Nashville soon too.

I'll see some of you at the Chicago Drum Show. I'm hosting the cafe stage this year and doing the internet video broadcast. If you patronized my shop, thanks for being a customer. I had a good run at this drum shop business and ready and excited to get on the next phase of my life.

George, yourself and Matt are a total asset to the drum and percussion world, and will be surely missed. If we lose all the Independent Music stores all we will be left with is the Big box don't give a crap music store, This is Indeed terrible news,Keep churning out some killer tunes with poco for us!Also, NSMD Is the very magazine that has been a treasure trove of Information for me over the years, you have done a fantastic job on it's rebirth!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

George. Now I know why the tension and bad mood I felt at the Ohio Drum Show. I am so sorry that the business is closing as I hate to hear this stuff. I'm sure on a better day, you are a sweetheart of a guy and you will be in my prayers as this odeal rears it ugly head. Best of luck with the mag, and we'll be seeing you at the Chicago show for sure...if you stop by our booths!! Bless all that you do George.

Major bummer to hear this news George. Another end of an era situation caused by the ****genization of our retail society. Its a sad thing to watch indeed. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors. It sound like you have a great positive attitude about the whole thing!
