This my oftenest played kit.

Sizes

22x14" bass

12x8" rack1

13X9" rack2

16x16" floor1

18x16" floor2

14x5" Rogers powertone snare, borrowed from one of my other kits since I can not find a matching slingerland Cordova, aka leatherette, leather wrap, faux leather etc. Can anyone help me in my search to find a matching snare?!?!?>!!!

Or does anyone have any other drums in this finish for sale?

Nice kit!! Sorry I can't help on the snare. Maybe you could find some close faux leather and wrap a drum to go with the kit until you find one.

There's a member here Poppy.... that does auto restoration that might help you out.

Another possibility for a correct "matching" snare: Use a chrome snare like a Slingerland Gene Krupa Sound King. It would've been an available option with this kit.

Im 3rd generation in the Upholstery business. Leatherette is a term they used back in the early 60's and probably earlier than that. Now days its just vinyl. You might actually find something that matches pretty close and just cover another snare. I did that on my ludwig black panther kit. I found some vinyl that had a identical grain and covered a later model snare that was inexpensive, but had the correct lugs, strainer, and muffler. Unfortunatly Black is much easier to match than your saddle color. If they are covered in vinyl, go to a upholstery shop and see if they can match it. Take a tom wiith ya. If they cant match it go to another one and so on.........If all fails in that pursuit, then contact a vinyl repair guy and see if he can mix up some vinyl die and buy the closest piece you can and have it dyed. All you'd need is 1/3 of a yard.

Most of those kits were sold with a chrome snare drum. There's a leather one out there just be patient.

The only cat specific Slingerland kits that I know of sold during the 70's with matching wood snares were the Krupa, Rich, and the Fusion. None of these match your kit config. I agree with the previous post, pick up an era correct COB if you want to have a correct snare.

The Poppy idea is also an interesting one if it doesn't have to be "correct". I would do the Poppy one ... if it were me ... AND snag a sweet COB SoundKing ... for the best of both worlds.

well my kit is not in original configuration. However that's always an option. I have been using a great sounding COB snare anyways, might as well use a krupa.

but if an original matching snare is available anywhere ever. I want it.

This Kit was Originally a 22, 12, 13, 16... I believe. I added the 18, and I suppose it could have had just a 12 or just a 13 originally though unlikely.

has anyone ever seen a snare that matches?
