Drum show behavior Last viewed: 4 hours ago

I recently spoke with a known resource in the vintage drum world. He shared with me that at a recent well known drum show, some idiot came up to one of the exhibitors and began to pester him. After he had had enough, the exhibitor asked the man to leave. The man left, but when the show ended, the exhibitor found that a pristine wood Dynasonic snare drum had the words "FU" deep scratched into the surface of the drum. Unbelievable. It appears that drum show exhibitors should bring their own security detail.

That's terrible.

Security cameras are probably a good idea -in general, just to capture potential vandalism like that. And, especially, if someone is pestering a vendor, the vendor should record that person for visual reference. There's all kinds of nuts out there these days.

If we want to continue having drum shows, then everyone must show respect towards the exhibitors. The security camera is a good idea as well as security guards walking the premises. We are living in a different world nowadays, and as a friend of mine says; 'No one is nice anymore'.

Everyone has their ideas on how to stop such things, personally I think that if the security cameras could positively ID the jerk he should be hauled out back and beaten with 2B drum sticks until he promised he would never ever abuse another vintage drum again.

What kind of jerk wakes up in the morning and decides to get dressed, shave, drink some coffee and then go out to a drum show to hassle someone? Jeez! You never see those guys going down to the YMCA to hassle someone who's doing some boxing or judo training do you? Scratching "FU" on a Dynasonic?? Wow, that's badazz...

One thing is for sure, he wont forget that guy.

And that guy, probably wont think of that at the next show.

Hopefully, the exhibitor remembers his face. If this individual keeps it up, they may be able to get him banned from the drum show. The thought of someone setting out to destroy a Dynasonic is upsetting to say the least. They aren't making any more Dynas......
