My favorite snare drum-

fav' budget snare would be my 70's Acrolite, traded a snare stand for it. fav' non-budget snare depends on the week, currently a Krupa COB Slingy.

Media blasting will remove the enamel, you could also try "airplane remover". Where its chipped in spots, whats underneath? Chrome, brass?
