The absolute best rust remover is Vinegar. Just soak parts for an hour or two (depending on amount of rust) and Viola! Gone Gone Gone!

The picture in the catalog is my exact kit, although mine are dated March 12, 1965 other than that, ditto! I'm loving it!

My Ludwig Standards had foam that was very hard, my Super Classics had nothing, I put red felt throughout both sets.
