How weird is to use any stick type?

I'd use any brand or model if they felt fairly comfortable. I save the wimpiest, lightest sticks for someone who wants to try my kit....lol.

You could try some foil tape around the shaft of the drum clip and re-insert it. You may have to separate the clip for the shaft a little not to tear...
