One Of A Kind! MIJ Trixon Copy Kit!

Loading...

Hi All,

I know there are some fierce MIJ lovers out there. This one is for you!

I never buy MIJ kits. That said, I couldn't pass on this one. I have never seen another one like it. I've never seen the wrap or heard of this company. The drums are MIJ Luan shells with re-rings. The wrap is a combination of blue glass glitter and a ginger-ale'd silver glass glitter. See photos. The bottom hoops and tension rods for the rack toms is missing in the photos, but I have them. The kit is complete. Needs serious clean-up, but the wrap is pristine, and the hardware will clean up beautifully. Complete kit. Rail tom mounts, cymbal holder, bass drum pedal, hi-hat and the four drums.

I never knew anybody had tried to copy/knock-off Trixon drums. But here is the proof that someone did. Like I said, rare.

Bass drum: 22" batter side side, tapers to 18" on the reso side. Hoops need touch up paint, but drum is complete and in excellent condition for its age.

Floor tom: 16" batter side, tapering to 14" on the reso side.

Rack toms: (Normal) 8" x 12" and 9" x 13" toms.

All drums excellent. This kit will clean up to be a real treat for the eyes. I can promise you this, you'll be the only kid on the block to own one!

$600.00 - PRICE REDUCED! you pay shipping from: 19607

Don't hesitate, I don't expect these are going to last long. I'm sorely tempted to keep them for myself! Serious inquiries, pm me.

John

That makes two of us! The way the bass drum and floor tom taper is just killer. The kit has a genuine 'Look' going for it. I've never seen that wrap either! After a clean-up, that blue and silver glass Zebra wrap is going to look like new.

Vivant was one of several companies who copied the conical drum. They were out of Japan and only made the 18 and 20 and 22 bass and the 14 and 16 floor toms conical. The other drums were standard. Another Japanese company to build conical drums was Emperador. Trowa out of Germany made the conical Dixie model. In the 90s the Bison Custom Drum company made the Volcano snare. There was also the Firchie drum. More recently, Daldoss Custom drums out of Italy had some extraordinary conical drums. Those were very sweet.

I realize you may have never come across one of these, but they are far from rare and this really should not be posted as a one of a kind. Vivant and Emperador and Trowa made their share of Trixon/Vox knockoffs back in the day. Search the threads for Trowa and you should find some fairly good reading.

You have a neato MIJ with a cool wrap.

Had a guy that lived down the street from me when I was a kid that had a set like this. He also had a crazy a$$ double bass kit that the bass drums were like 5 feet long & all the toms were like power-toms on steroids. Not sure if these were made by the same folks, but I'm sure this was all MIJ stuff he had. Haven't thought of that in 40 years until I saw this set. Wacky stuff John!

Perhaps I was a bit free with my language. I'm sure nobody thinks there is only one of these in the entire world. It was just an expression of the fact that in my 50 years of playing I have never seen a kit like this one. I had never even heard of them before. I've never seen that particular wrap either. I wasn't trying to make it sound like it was the only example on planet earth as much as express how surprised I was to see one. Never knew these existed. Apparently not too many other guys have either.

I figured these for late 50's early 60's based on the hardware. (Rail mount, cymbal arm, etc) Do you know when these were made? Are they Pearl company drums?

Any more info you can share would be appreciated.
