Yes, I'm a gear freak. No, really??
I have a penchant for direct drive pedals...which is why the Speed King is my favorite vintage pedal.
Lord love Ludwig, but they don't have anywhere NEAR the budget and machining and manufacturing resources of Yamaha.
The Flying Dragon is beautifully designed and manufactured. To an old cat like me, the possibilities for adjustment on this pedal are astounding. Pedal angle is independent from footboard height... which I love, being a heel down guy. I won't go into it, because you know...
IMHO, except for the goofy name this is the best direct drive pedal available. Come to think of it, are there any modern ones? Oh, yeah, Large $ Axis!
Then, being the geek I am, I had to try the Cobra Coil. Drilling the steel was not easy, but it works! A very modest difference, less so than with a Ghost, but palpable. It does have to be removed from the frame to adjust - no real way to solve it, but it's 2 screws. I also had to move the onboard tool to make it fit, so there are 3 holes in the frame. Also changed the adjusting screw on the hoop clamp-the original had to be done with onboard tool. Cripe. I think that's been changed!
From what I can tell, there's no major difference between the current model and this one - except $$ and the "Cobra Coil" (another weird name to me!).
So, enough blah blah -- $ new price - 50, plus 9 to ship. It's actual shipping, so I'll refund any difference.
When you get to the photobucket album, you'll also see a Tama Iron Cobra I'm selling. Again - top choice in the chain drive herd. Same price.
