Jeff: Be careful what you ask for -- you just might get it (lol)! To be serious, just for a few seconds, I really do appreciate your offer to help! I should know where I stand on this one sometime this week-end.

jccabinets: Jeff -- I was supposed to stop by to see if heads would fit on the shells of the Ludwig kit this week-end. However, today I went to see a 60s Rogers kit in extremely sound condition, both functionally and cosmetically speaking, that I could get for less than the Ludwig kit. It doesn't come with a 14" floor tom but is basically "play ready" right now. I've got a few questions regarding the kit that I've asked in my "Rogers Question" post. However, in the long run it might be the better choice for me, not only price-wise but also in regard to how much additional work would be needed to get that Ludwig bass drum back in shape. Decisions, decisions!

Sounds like the Rogers might be a better choice. I missed that thread somehow, I will go take a look. You have to remember, I have only seen pics of the Ludwig kit and the problem area, sometimes things are much worse in person and I hope I wouldnt be going over my head if you decide to get the Ludwigs but I would do my best to help you out.

Thanks so much, Jeff. Gentlemen like you are what make this forum great! Unfortunately, I seem to have a "bad habit" of finding wonderful vintage drums "with issues" (lol)! I like challenges but, as my "buddy", Clint Eastwood, once said: "A man's got to know his limitations!" When it comes to drum restorations, I'm EXTREMELY limited, I can assure you.

If thats just the inner ply then good chance it has been like that for many years and will stay like that for many more. It would be a good idea to have someone help you glue those loose plys back down. I would be glad to help you out if you ship the drum to me, and Im talking free. you pay the shipping. So my answer is like the others, yes, buy it but really use that repair to lower his price. You have waited a long time for this kit, go for it, I will help you out.

Hey, Jeff.

I just sent you a PM. Thanks!
