hello there, i have a rogers dyna-sonic snare drums that has a wood shell. from what i have read these are quite rare. the serial number is 16130. if anyone could help me date or price this thing that would be great. the only problem is that the snare throw has been replaced with a ludwig one. if anyones got info on where i could buy parts to restore it that would be great as well. thanks!

Pictures would be great. You have a drum with a lot of potential. Seeing some shots of the current condition of the drum would give the experts here some ideas of what is required to bring the drum back to its original configuration.
Wood Dyna-Sonic snares can be in the $1000 range. It sounds like your drum may not be in that condition and perhaps some permenant alterations have been made to the shell in the form of holes which will hurt its value.
Post a few pics and some of the Rogers guys will chime in with some ideas.
That is a drum that many people (including me) would love to have.
Welcome.

Pics really are the best way to "see" what you have here, but that said: With a serial number of #16130, that puts your Dynasonic in at 1968, Dayton, Ohio. Near impossible to tell you anything else without being able to see the drum. As a general rule, wood Dynasonics that have not been compromised will go $2000.00 easy... or more. Pics?!

alright here are some pictures of the drum. they aren't the best quality but that's all I've got for now!
1. drum
2. the badge
3. the throw thats currently on the drum

Does that snare side head say Heid Music? Where are you located? I am from the Fox Valley originally (now in Madison, WI). That drum looks killer! Champagne Sparkle!!!!
I am from beaver dam, WI. it's about a thirty minute drive from Madison. and yes it does say heid music!
nice drum,
and champagne sparkle. hopefully its relatively damage free on the replacement strainer front but i know nothing about rogers strainers so i cant say
whered you get it?
it was laying in pieces in the storage room of my high school and from the looks of it, it had been there for quite some time. So, one day i asked my band director if i could take the pieces and fix it up. He told me They were planning on cleaning out that room and selling all the stuff they didn't want as a bundle, and if i wanted the drum i could just take it. So i did! now i have the drum, and i think they sold the rest of the stuff in the room for like 4 grand or something.
Well... You have a good eye.. SCORE!!!
Take real care in getting the drum right. Get the correct hardware, get holes professionally fixed (http://www.lawtondrum.com/services.htm) that's a real beauty.
Congrats.

Wow. Those kind of storys make me so happy and SO MAD that I wasnt the one to find the drum!
Congrats on a GREAT find. Champagne Sparkle Dyna. SO sweet!
I would assume due to the P85 on there that there is only one extra hole...atleast thats what it looks like in the pic.
All you need is an original era correct strainer ($100-$150) on the bay, and the original era correct snare frame for the bottom ($100-$200) on the bay along with the appropriate snare wires....and you are looking at a ball park $2000 drum.
Man thats cool!
I am down in Madison...would love to take a look at that thing sometime!
