I tried to prevent them from getting old and/or weathered but here is my Gretsch Burnt orange kit I ordered new in 1987. They actually are a bit darker than typical Burnt Orange (I know this because I have lots more drums in this color) but are definitely orange in person and match to themselves perfectly. Lots of nice figuring in the wood too. These are keepers.
One of my first refurbishing projects was this set of 60's Slingerland 3-ply orphans...all originally wrapped but in bad shape.
Poor lighting in this pic shows the ride as lighter than the rest, but actually they matched up very nicely.
They are now long gone, but I liked them very much.
I believe my buddy vintagemore2000 was my guide on these...
Thanks, Mark...!!
:):)
Additionally, my first Slingerland snare since I got back into the "Vintage Game"......acquired sometime in '09...:)
K.O. that set is killer.
Imagine if these two got together what it would sound like.

Here are a few of the ones I have done veneer on.
You're killin' me with those pics, Jeff (lol)! GREAT job on all of them, as usual!
Haynes must have cut a deal with Scratch to get that right hand. His ride work is really something and a joy to listen to.

Looks like some fun sets!!!
