Wood fill from Slingerland factor? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1965 Slingerland Hollywood Ace from a person who said he was the original owner and bought it new in '65. But when I took off the heads, there was some wood filler on the bearing edges (just a couple of patches). He said that's how it came from the factory. Is this possible? Would Slingerland back in 1965 use wood filler on bearing edges? Would any drum manufacturer do that? Or was that a common practice back then? Thanks for any help.

Wow. Thanks for the reply. I had no idea. This snare feels hand built (finger prints in the glue, etc.). It sounds great, though. Thanks again for the reply.
