Why Are We Drummers Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Do any of you ask yourself why you are a drummer and not say, a violinist? What happened to us at birth to make us gravitate to this expensive, bulky instrument. I was talking to my better half about this last night, having a difficult time finding a place to rehearse without spending over a hundred a month, I said, "I should had played the violin, I could practice just about anytime, anywhere." If only I had the passion for a less complicated instrument, it would had made my life so much easier.

Johnny,

It's never too late to learn to play the bass. It looks a little like a violin if you use a Hofner.Guitar Dude Man

It was easier to beat on pots and pans so I moved up to the real deal

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

It's kinda funny. Like many of us Mom, Dad and I watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. After the performance my Mom said to me "you should play the drums like Ringo" She had quite the crush on Ringo too me thinks. And so it began. :D My Dad wanted nothing to do with me playing the drums. Mom had different plans for me. And made it happen.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I was inspired by our neighbors, two of them were drummers and I just loved the kits and the sounds they made. Yes they are bulky instruments to play and hard to practice when ever you want but its worth the effort. I think we all just have the right skills to play them, takes a lot of coordination and a clear mind to do it right, not everyone can do it.

Thank you!

I was in 4th grade and we were administered a test to see what instrument we might be good at. I was told I should play clarinet! I said "no thanks, I really want to play drums". My only reason for saying this was the toy drum set a friend had. All I remembered was the cool bass drum head, which had a picture of palm trees and a setting sun! Sure am glad I didn't take up the "licorice stick"! LoLoLoLo

Your heart beats you play drums...

Plus sitting being a kit is like being in the driver's seat of a car or airplane. It just feels good. Beats standing to play a guitar or any other instrument..
