Who has wiped the date stamp off the inside of a Ludwig shell? Own up. Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

...and make me feel better. I just did it. I was absentmindedly lightly cleaning a Duco pioneer with a damp cloth. I said to myself "stay away from the date stamp" and then promptly flicked over it with the cloth - gone, just like that. I'm still really annoyed with myself.

For the record, the date was 21 May 1963 and you can only make out very faint traces of it now. Idiot!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I haven't but have come close. ive bought a couple drums that the owner said that had happened on the drum. they hand wrote in the stamp as soon as they did it. probably not a bad idea.

Good idea Mike. I can just make out the '63 if I squint. Because it's a pre-serial badge with white interior and a BB muffler, the date range is pretty narrow anyway, right? (trying to make myself feel better now). The muffler is white rather than red but I guess it could've been changed at some point.

I will be more attentive in future but a good warning for others - red stamp on white painted interior takes the slightest wipe to removeCryBaby

Cleaning the interior of a Supra not long ago and wiped the date stamp off. Was kinda attached to it because the drum was made the day my sister was born.

youre right on the muffler. the end of the pre serials used red felt baseball bat mufflers.

Now we're talking John and Redneck. This is turning into a therapy sessionViolin It's always nice to know you're not the only one.
