Hi guys...I don't know if any of you remember but I recall a drum like that one going for over 3000 (yes 3 zero's) a few months ago on ebay. The most I ever paid for a drum was 300 for my jazzfest.I have seen drums go for insane prices both ways in recent months. There was a vintage Tame bell brass snare all original parts about 2 months ago on ebay that went for....7500.I guess if sombody wants it bad enough..and they have the cash. Those are the people that seem to be "fixing"prices on drums these days...not true players or expert collectors...just my opinion..and i think its a real shame.

Once again, I should read all posts before I post. Good call!

I once paid $400 for a used Noble & Cooley SS Classic snare drum. It was from the late 80's and while old was certainly not vintage. At the time I felt it was exorbitant, but man did I love the crack on that snare. Regret selling it to this day. Needed to pay bills...

The snare in question is far overpriced as LD pointed out. Even if that was the final piece to an all original, matched Luddy I wouldn't pay even a quarter of the asking price. It's just makes you a complete fool if you do imho.

WAY too much for that particular drum, in my opinion. Also, WAY too much for ANY drum that I would personally purchase.

This thread made me actually think back through my transactions over the years. The most I've paid for a snare is $400 that I can remember. Second is one I paid $325 for (pre-serial Auditorium in original green sparkle!!! YES!!!) Also, there have been a couple of $300 snares, but most have been $250 and under. I have my own line that I draw for each individual snare.

If I found a snare unlike any other that was THE FREAKIN' HOLY GRAIL of snares, I probably couldn't get myself to pull the trigger if it cost more than $500. That's my line...
