My first real drum set on my first paying gig in 1959. The drums are a used mid 50's Gretsch set with no floor tom. The finish is factory original Duco two tone of Cameo Coral and Charcoal Metallic. I set them up lefty style because I'm a lefty. But, then, I started to play them with lefty feet and righty hands. After a couple of months, I switched over to a righty configuration that I play open-handed style. I've played that way since 1959.

A few drum sets later, here's my new Camco Blue Sparkle set on an outdoor gig in about 1964.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I hope that I'll get a lot older, too. I'll be 72 in October. My sisters and I just hosted a 100th birthday party for our mother a week ago.

That's awesome. Any tips for her longevity?

Mom claims that it's genetic. She's the fifth of seven siblings, and the only one to survive past the age of 91 or 92. Her father's father lived to be 103. My mother has been very active in the community and in her religious congregation for as long as I can remember. She's never been particularly picky or restrictive as to what she eats. As far as I know, she's never had an alcoholc drink or smoked. I hope that I received some of those long and active life genes from her.

That's great leedybdp, my mom will be 91 this year. She loves ice cream and she smoked for a good 30 years before quitting in her early 60's. Good genes I guess.
