Whats it worth? Bowling ball blue oyster pearl wrap stripped from shell

I removed the blue oyster pearl wrap from my 6 ply 24x14 virgin kick. I'm going to sell it; I know people are looking for OEM pieces like this to wrap orphan snares and such.

eBay completed listings aren't showing anything, so I really have no gauge. Anybody ever seen something like this sell?

It was quite clean, just shrinkage at the seams. There are a couple creases from the removal process that I believe can be ironed out.

So what I have is two identical pieces. 37" usable length on each, and 6 1/8" width from lug hole to lug hole.

With two seams, you could wrap pretty much any drum with 6.5" max depth. With one seam, you can cover 12" or smaller diameter. And of course it could go right back on a 24" kick and everything would line up.

Man, I could be way off here...and maybe it's the photos, but that doesn't look like Oyster Blue "Bowling Ball" to me. Then again, maybe I don't know enough about the Bowling Ball oyster finishes. Were there other issues with that drum? Usually, the only reason to strip a vintage wrap like that is if it is shot, or is loaded full of extra holes. I hope it didn't get stripped just to profit from the vintage wrap.

I was under the impression this is Oyster Blue "Bowling Ball".

I think it is blue oyster pearl but the lighting might be different for the photo.

I was wondering the same thing, why is a good drum being stripped of its wrap?

I guess I can see the Bowling Ball when I zoom in real close. The color seem as little off in the photos. I still think I wouldn't have been able to strip a "clean"' virgin OBP Bowling Ball shell.

It is blue oyster pearl from the "bowling ball" era.

I stripped it off because I'm matching the kick to a kit I already have. I was careful with the removal so that I can profit, yes.

Because I'm a drummer, not a collector. I bought the drum with a bunch of other orphans and they're all getting wrapped similar to go on tour with me.

How about a buck and a half--I really do mean one dollar and fifty cents--for the people who are offended by your project. For the rest of us, who might be in need of this amount of this wrap, I would guess $25-$50 would be the correct price range. The drums are yours to do with as you please. Good luck with your project.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I do agree that it is your drum to do with what you want. It's not like you had a complete matching kit that you are stripping. As to value, that's always hard to tell. If you feel it is worth more than $50, you can always put a higher reserve and see how high the bidding gets. $50 does seem fair, though.
