What year did Slingerland snare lugs use no inserts...direct thread? Last viewed: 15 minutes ago

A good friend brought over a 6-1/2 by 14 solid maple shell snare last night with 8 lugs on it (only).

I can see it took the early snare extenders that mount to the drum with 2 screws on each side.......instead of the later 3 per side.

Could this be a Broadcaster?

Shell has 2-3 coats of paint glopped on the outside.................

I have a friend that re-fins furniture,so I am going to have him do the dirty work of the stripping of the paint..........

The shell could be a "BC" shell. To bad the rims are missing..All the BC shells i have and have seen all were wrap not painted.Slingerland used these types of lugs in the 30's with out springs..Mikey

right-o,The drum would be from the early 30's it had calf heads on it at one time.I have many of these B.C. snare's -{just got one today at a swapmeet}-full dress model silver sparkle with red diamond's between the lugs its a late 30's tap lugs and it has a remo black dot head on top...he cool thing is that i have a 6.5x14 in the same finish now i have found the sisiter to it .The one i got today is a 5.5x14..Mikey
