What Year Did Ludwig Stop Dating Shells?

Hi all,

I own an early 70's Ludwig Classic kit in OBP bowling ball wrap...The 13 x 9 tom is dated 1970 on the interior of the shell, the 13 x 11 rack and the 16 x 16 floor have stickers inside the shells stating 1971. (I learned this through the help of this Forum)....Which leaves the bass drum, there is no sticker or date stamp inside the shell...What year did Ludwig stop dating shells?

Thanks in advance!!

Cheers

i know someone else knows the real answer to your question, but ludwig still dates their shells.

now,if you need to know if they stopped dating shells in the 70's/80's then started dating them again...then that i don't know.i handled many ludwigs for who i used to work for,and i know atleast from the 90's to today thetop of the line drums have always been dated.

by the way,did you get the drum keys from me yet?

Those stickers in the 70's would fall out sometimes.....they were not in there the best!

Fish ~ No, I haven't got the keys yet....Maybe today???? I will let you know when they arrive....

Blair ~ So, through the early 70's they used the stickers? I guess in this case, my bass drum's sticker must have fell off....I guess I thought there was a period in the 70's where Ludwig stopped dating their shells....

Thanks for the info gentlemen...

Usually, you can see an outline of where it used to be though.....

I have had it where you just lightly touch them, and they fall right off!

I special ordered three classic toms from the factory in late 1972 or early 1973 (BO Badge, sn 122xxxx). They came with the speckled interior paint and neither a date stamp nor a paper label.
