What kind of drum heads do you use (snare, toms, bass)?
Why do you use these heads?
What kind of sound do you get out of them?
I am asking these questions because I would like to know more about drum heads. Thanks for anyone who shares!

First things first: There's a whole lot of info in past threads, on these forums and elsewhere. You can probably find plenty of info by searching and skimming old threads, whether it's general info like the pros and cons of single versus double ply heads or more specific stuff like what works for people on particular drums for particular kinds of music.
But anyway...
On my mid-50s Slingerland kit, I use Aquarian American Vintage heads. Medium for batters, thin for tom reso heads, and medium with felt for the bass reso. Why? Because they fit! Drums made before the late '50s have slightly larger shell diameters and the American Vintage heads are made just a little bit bigger to fit those older shells.
I also keep a Tama Stagestar kit for practice in a friend's basement. On that set, I've got a coated Evans EMAD bass batter, Evans G Plus coated tom batters, and the stock reso heads. I like the combination of warmth and sustain from the coated G Pluses. I've also been thinking of trying brushes, so I wanted to go with a textured head. The EMAD works pretty well to help accentuate the low end on the little 18" bass. I haven't bothered swapping out the tom reso heads yet since they sound decent enough for a practice kit The stock bass reso actually sounds pretty good. (Honestly, the stock bass batter wasn't all that bad, either.)
And on other kinds of drums... I teach percussion at a high school, so I've got a few drums to keep my rudimental chops up and for use while arranging parts: a Pearl FFX marching snare with an Evans Gold Standard (high tension aramid fiber) batter head and a Remo Ambassador snare side, as well as a set of Pearl marching tenors with Remo Black Suedes. For use in concert music that calls for a field drum, I've got a 1950s Slingerland Standard King marching snare that has older-than-me Remo Emperors in surprisingly good shape.
OH boy.. here we go. Usually, I go with Ludwig Weather Master. I like the way they fit on the bearing edges of the drum. Their "Heavy" 1 ply head is very durable... and outlast anything else I've tried.. the coating doesn't wear off on the coated heads either!
Remo heads have had some "Fit" issues on some of my drums, but I do like their 2 ply coated for toms, and the VintageA is a pretty good snare head.
Aquarian is quite innovative. Their kick drum heads are super cool, and I love the dampening systems. Availibility has always been an issue with these.. I'm always having to mail order anything that isn't "Normal" sold as kit size..
Evans is very innovative, but the pricing has turned me off. Also, I don't like how big they print their logos. I find it very maddending that the logo is 50-80% bigger than anyone elses. My drums are not your billboard. I've had some fit problems with these too..
Attack drum heads are made in taiwan, but they aren't as bad as many people anticipate. I actually find they fit the drums very well, and offer good durability at a low price.
Things I like
1. Crimped Rims instead of glued ( I feel it offers a better fit) Win: Ludwig/Attack Fail : Remo Evans Aquarian
2. Subtle look. (My drums aren't your advert, so don't make the head a billboard) Win: Remo, Ludwig, Attack Fail: Evans Aquarian
3. Durable These things have to last
Win: Ludwig. Everyone else comes in second.. but they don't fail
4. Easy to tune. Fitting the drums well makes for easy tuning..
Win: Ludwig - Attack Fail : Remo (hardest to seat on the bearing edge)
5. Dampening (when desired) Win: Aquarian second place is Evans..... everyone else isn't far behind. (for studio dampending, you can't beat Aquarians studio series.)
I use a little of everyone's heads, but Ludwig is the staple on my snares.. 1 ply heavy coated.
