This is a drum for sale in a nearby town, the guy thinks it's an Acrolite... has the same lugs, and a bead but obviously chrome-plated. S/L series? But what is the shell material?

Certainly not an Acrolite, that's for sure. The 1960's Acrolites were straight aluminum finish. The 70's saw the whiter finish, and by the time of the black / white badge they became what we still see today " Blackrolites " they got a black sparkle finish. This looks more like a standard steel snare. If I'm not mistaken their 300 line series of drums have the same lugs, badge, and feature a chrome plated steel drum.
Yeah obviously not an Acrolite, that's just what the guy is calling it in the ad. The thing that is throwing me off is the bead, I thought the standard snares did not have a bead. The Supralites have a bead but have tube lugs. Maybe they were different in the 80s, the badge looks like an 80s or 90s badge? Not a Supraphonic I assume, because of the lugs? I was hoping I could score a Supra for Acrolite money... Cool Dude
I looked through my Cascio catalog, and the 300 have the bead in the center. I'll see if I can find a link.
Found a photo of one. The strainer on this is a newer one, but same snare no less. Best way to tell that It's not an acrolite or even chrome over brass - the magnet test. If it sticks, steel she is.
Yep it looks to be the LM302 or S/L302... oh well.
That should be a steel shell, one of Ludwig's import shells. Don't fret though. That's the precursor to the Ludwig Supralite which is pretty popular. That's a nice size. Looks pretty good too. If it was local, I'd give it a shot.
